When Instagram launched the feature a few years ago following Snapchat’s footsteps, we wondered how well it would be received. Turns out, pretty well. It’s spawned a new group of AR creators who make money from it, giving it a tech-led feel of creation that Facebook lacked.

These filters are now a common muse among brands and individuals alike. Especially since literally anybody can develop their own filter and also because we’re all at home trying to grab any opportunity that slightly reminds us of what the word ‘fun’ means or even just the outside world in general.

With restricted access to the outside world (please wear your mask), brands have now decided to integrate the outside world onto our smartphones. Over the past few months, we’ve worked closely with our brand partners to create Instagram filters which have received immense traction and success. So, we’ve created this post as a compilation of our work with AR over the past few months, just in case you missed out on a few. 👀

Google India’s #MakeSmallStrong:

With India aiming to be a self-reliant country (Atmanirbhar Bharat), and small businesses losing out on their livelihood due to the ongoing pandemic, Dentsu Webchutney along with Google India decided to help promote small business through their #MakeSmallStrong campaign.

This filter allows you to give a shoutout to your favorite local/small businesses and help them reach a wider audience by also encouraging them to keep going.

The Bowl Company’s Bowl Mix:

Watching an IPL match is never complete without the sound of the signature ‘bugle’ or ‘bhopu’ revving up the stadium energy. To compensate for the lack of festivity during our favorite season of the year, The bowl Company’s AR filter to add your fav IPL beats to the signature IPL tune. ’Cause personalization is key 🗝️

YouTube India’s Onam Boat Race:

A country that loves festivals, and selfies and well filters, we along with YouTube India created an AR filter for Onam. Enabling the filter to be a unique and refreshing addition to YouTube’s Pappadam Campaign.

Tinder India’s 2020 Date Ideas:

At the stroke of midnight on 31st December 2019, we all wished upon a star to make this year be the best one yet with the ‘love of our lives’ — fast forward six months, and well, here we are.

Tinder India’s new AR filter gives you fun and quirky ways to date. A Netflix marathon? Twenty-one questions? Let the filter decide.

Facebook’s Dil Kholo, Duniya Khulegi:

With several businesses being impacted by the ongoing pandemic, the worst sector hit were small local businesses. This is core to Facebook’s ‘Dil Kholo, Duniya Khulegi’ campaign, which it took up the deed to spread awareness about the same via this filter. You can watch the film here and try the filter right here from your Facebook app.

Swiggy’s Foodoshop:

Swiggy has always had the upper hand when it comes to leveraging Instagram tools to up their social media game, and living true to the reputation ‘Foodoshop’ did not disappoint. This filter made us immediately order in a huge juicy burger — via Swiggy of course.

At Dentsu Webchutney, our team of vertical video experts develop these filters in-house. AR is the wild west of smartphone technologies right now, and we expect it to be a feature in brand engagement going forward. Reach out on our social handles if you’d like to see this come to life for your brand. 🤳
