Our Kyoorius Affair Continues
Some new Elephants are in the room with our highest-ever tally
We love Kyoorius. The spectacle of the live event, the people, the feeling of seeing our work freshly printed on the Kyoorius Annual Report, and creative talent from all over India showcasing their amazing work. With no hyperbole, we can say it’s an international festival standard held right here in India. Perhaps there’s little by way of surprise in that statement, as it is held in collaboration with The One Club for Creativity.
Kyoorius is foreshadowed by an incredible week of learning at ZeeMelt. This year, albeit online, we thoroughly enjoyed Rory Sutherland & his bookshelf, Nick Ellis’s amazing session on account management, Dave Trott’s incisive breakdown of advertising & marketing, and so much more. If you can catch the recorded sessions, we highly recommend it.
Now, on to why this blog post lives.
Last year, we had our best-ever showing with 15 Elephants at the Kyoorius Creative Awards. This included the honor of being one of the only two winners of the coveted Black Elephant. The Elephants don our awards shelves and fittingly serve as an imposing presence over other awards.
In February this year, we launched Awards 404 to motivate our teams to go above and beyond in their awards haul by hiding these Elephants.
Cut to September — amidst a raging pandemic — and we’re thrilled to outdo our best-ever performance at Kyoorius with 40 in-book winners, 17 Elephants, and wins across a range of categories we considered far-fetched not too long ago. Oh, and yet another Gold Elephant and Black Elephant made their way to us. (Now on a hattrick for both!)
To the uninitiated, here’s a glossary of what the Elephants mean, courtesy one of our creatives:
So, from all 247 of us at Dentsu Webchutney, thank you, dear jury. Thank you, dear industry. Oh, and thank you, our dear compatriots at Ogilvy India, FCB, and all other winners for an awesome showing. Some of our favorite pieces of work from our friends include The Honking Signal for the Mumbai Traffic Police, Fevicol Sofa, and the wonderful Thumbstoppers series by Facebook.
In case you’re curious, the following campaigns were big winners this year, led by the 8-bit Journo for VICE and The World’s Most Reported Trailer for Thappad’s launch. We’re especially proud of the amazing work across our three offices represented here:
All in all, with a week of learning and a clean number of creative successes, we’re gratified by the results of the hard work from our teams across Bombay, Bengaluru, and Gurgaon — and can’t wait to continue our run with this ever so fulfilling Kyoorius affair going forward.
